Here is my first review of the products I purchased during Sephora’s recent VIB sale!
The Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments are, according to Sephora’s website, are “a hydrating treatment that nourishes, protects, and plumps the lips.” I already own the lip treatments in Plum, Rose, and the plain Sugar treatment, which I purchased at the VIB sale a couple of years ago. Plum is great for night as it’s a bit darker. But, I was looking for something a bit brighter (and less red than Rose) to wear during daytime for class. I don’t like to wear a lot of makeup for my classes, but I still want some color to my face so I don’t look like a walking zombie. Enter the perfect solution: the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Tulip.
First of all, the packaging that the lip balm comes in is gorgeous! The box is hot pink, which echoes the color of the product inside. It’s also got a lovely paisley design on the box. I like that the box is the same color as the product because if you don’t get a chance to swatch, or really even see the lip balm, you can still get a general idea of what you’re in for. The metal tube is also a pretty hot pink. The only thing about these that threw me off when I first purchased Plum is that these are twist-off rather than the traditional capped ones. I spent a good five minutes trying to figure out why the heck mine would not open until my sister grabbed it and accidentally figured it out herself.
The Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments are supposed to give off sheer washes of color, while moisturizing and hydrating the lips. Tulip is no different. It’s described as a hot pink, but it definitely comes off more natural and is exactly what I was looking for! One swipe will give you a very sheer gloss of color, but you can also build it up to be more intense. Given that it is a balm, it will never fully be opaque. The lip treatment itself is as hydrating and nourishing as it claims. Especially during the winter I get really dry lips, but applying one of these offers instant relief. They also have a light lemon scent, which is really only apparent in the tube. The wear on this isn’t fantastic; I can usually get about 2.5 hours before I have to reapply, given that I don’t eat or drink anything. I don’t really mind though, because I am absolutely in love with the natural color it gives. This is a product that would be especially beautiful in the spring and summer (as it also has SPF 15), but I don’t think it is too bright for the winter, either.
The only think I don’t like about the product is the price. $22.50 is a little steep for these, but if you can grab them at a discount like I did during the VIB sale, they are definitely worth a look. If you want to try out a mini version before you commit to a full-sized one, Fresh offers gift sets right now! This is great because you can try a wide range of colors in smaller sizes. Or, if you are feeling generous, these would make a beautiful, luxurious Christmas gift.
Coming up soon on my blog are the rest of the Sephora reviews, my monthly ipsy bag review, as well as a new fashion post in two weeks. I’m also going to be starting some Christmas posts, as well, so keep your eyes peeled for that. As always, you can check out my twitter for updates.
