Guys and gals, it’s ipsy time!
In case you were wondering, ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription service. It’s $10 a month, and they send you five sample or full-sized products. If you are curious and want to know more, visit their website!
I loved last month’s bag, but this month was so-so for me. I was very excited to see what their first spring bag would look like, but it’s a little meh.
The bag itself is completely adorable and is definitely my favorite one that I have received so far. The bright, floral pattern just screams spring!
I did actually receive five different products this month, even though I only show four of them up above. The one product that I don’t have in the picture is the Laneige BB Cushion, which I tested back in my Target Beauty Box. I don’t wear BB Cream/Foundation, so I gave it to my sister who does. If you are curious for swatches, you an check out that post.
These are the Skyn Iceland Hyrdo Cool Firming Eye Gels. I really enjoyed the Skyn Iceland makeup remover wipes that ipsy sent a while back, so I am excited to try these. I also appreciate the fact that they sent two separate packs, so you can try them more than once. A full-size pack of 8 runs $30, so this is approximately worth $7.50.
The next product in the bag was the Coolway Glow Oil Treatment. This is basically a hair oil that is supposed to hydrate your hair while leaving it shiny and healthy. It is made with Porphyra Seaweed and is cruelty free. I tried this once and I will say it definitely left my hair looking softer and shinier, without making it look greasy. The smell is amazing too; it smells like holly berries on Christmas wreaths. A full-size is $29.95 (100 mL), and this (10 mL) is worth about $2.95.
The next product I received was the Mary Kay at Play Eye Crayon in Teal Me More. I love eye shadow pencils, and this one is creamy and pigmented. I just wish that I would’ve received any other color but blue. I literally never wear blue eyeshadow, but now that we are getting into spring, I might experiment using it as an eyeliner. The other color options on Mary Kay’s website are pretty neutrals and purples, which makes me curious as to why ipsy didn’t choose one of those. Also, another annoying thing is that it is not a twist-up pencil. I hate having to find a pencil sharpener big enough to fit them. This is full-sized, which is a plus, and it is worth $10.
The last product is definitely my favorite! It is the NYX Butter Lipstick in the color Hunk. When I first saw the color I received, I was nervous because it looks straight-up Barney-the-Dinosaur purple in the tube. However, it’s sheer and glossy, so the color comes off as more of a magenta pink, which is one of my all-time favorite colors to wear. The formula is very comfortable on the lips. I’m interested to check out some of the other colors, because I can see this being one of those products you throw in your bag because they will go with anything. I do wish that ipsy would start spicing the brands up a bit. I enjoy NYX products, but it would be nice to get some variety. This is full-sized, which goes for $6.00.
This month was definitely just an alright month for ipsy. I’ll be curious to see if they get more spring-y for April. Let me know what you received in your ipsy bag this month!
Upcoming posts for the week are my Boxycharm review (spoiler: it’s fantastic), as well as a couple products I grabbed at Sephora!
Also, in case you missed it, Lilly Pulitzer is doing presents with purchases today! They’ve got some adorable new arrivals for spring, so now is the perfect time to grab something you’ve been eying.
Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend!
