Today I am reviewing the Boxycharm July 2015 box! Yay!
Boxycharm is a $21-a-month subscription service that offers full-size and luxury-sized beauty products, including makeup, skincare, nail products, and hair care!
I’m usually really excited about Boxycharm because they send you some great products that you wouldn’t think to buy yourself. But, being honest, this box is a total snooze-fest. It’s filled with products that most would say are essential to anyone’s makeup routine, but they’re not necessarily ones you want to receive in a subscription box that is supposed to be exciting.
The good news is that everything in this box is full-sized, which is always appreciated.
OFRA Universal Eyebrow Pencil. This is a product that I received and reviewed in an ipsy post. I do really love this eyebrow pencil, so I was happy to receive another. It’s a dark brown and is only offered in one color, so I have no idea how anyone with fairer hair will be able to use this. I do wish that Boxycharm would switch up their brands, though. I feel like we are seeing the same things over and over again. This is a $13.00 full-sized product.
MDMflow Greater Than Mascara. I love trying new mascaras, but I have my stand-by favorites because I tend to be picky about the formula. The tube is very large and a little bulky for my taste, but I like the design. This mascara is a dry formula, so be wary about that. It’s black and very, VERY natural. I find this ironic considering the website describes it as “The most intense, highly pigmented XXL black, volumising mascara.” It’s definitely not even close to that.
I applied one coat last night to test it out and I couldn’t tell a difference between the eye with makeup and the eye without makeup. Once I applied two more coats, the lashes started to appear bolder and more noticeable, but Maybelline Full n Soft is bolder with only one coat than this was with three. This is a mascara that you definitely have to work with, which isn’t ideal. This retails for $32.83 (although I cannot recommend buying it for that much money).
Yourminerals Sweden Transparent Veil. I’ve been looking for a new transparent setting powder to use for when I run out of my Make Up For Ever HD Powder, which I absolutely love, so this is perfect! It’s a thinly milled setting powder that you can find pretty much from any brand. I’ll be excited to try it out and see how it works with mattifying. This retails for $26.00.
Vasanti Blush Brush. This is a nice blush brush. It’s soft. I like the weight of it. That’s really all I can say about it. Boxycharm sent a face brush last month, so I’m kind of over getting brushes for now. This is especially because I already have my set that I love to use, but it is nice I guess to try out some new ones. This is a $29.00 brush.
Gorge I’ll Make You Look Amazing Daily Spray. This is probably the product I am most excited to try! It’s a leave-in conditioner that claims to perform an entire slew of tasks, including heat protecting, protecting color, and repairing damage. I gave my hair a few spritzes last night after I took a shower and brushed it through. My hair feels considerably softer this morning, which is exciting! The product smells like coconut, too, which I normally don’t like but this is very nice. This is a $29.95 full-size product.
Overall, this box was good, but not great. I’ll use everything in the box, but it’s not something that I’m incredibly excited about.
What did you think of Boxycharm this month? Let me know!
