A Life Update Moment – My Trip to Paris

IMG_9269 (1)

Hello everyone! The LONGEST time, no blog.

I’ve been so incredibly busy with school lately, and last week for spring break, I took a trip with my school to Paris! I had such an amazing time. Everything was so beautiful, and I kept saying that I wished I could move all of the chateaus and museums from Paris to Pittsburgh so I could visit more often.

I definitely enjoyed visiting and can’t wait to return, but I don’t think I could live there. The city is very European, and I learned I’m an American girl at heart who appreciates the simpler things about the U.S. 🙂 (Like being able to drive my car wherever I want and not having to rely on a metro system)

Because I’m me, I did quite a bit of shopping while I was there, so expect a post very soon on all of the beauty products I picked up while overseas! Popping into the various Pharmacies was one of my favorite parts of the trip. They’re different from American pharmacies, like CVS, because they mainly just sell health products and skincare. I was impressed by how many brands they offered (and how cheap they were). La Roche-Posay, Nuxe, Caudalie, Avene, etc.

I also grabbed some Bourjois makeup from Monoprix, which is kind of like a French Target. For drugstore makeup, it was pricier than I was expecting! Everything was over €10. I also don’t really know where French women purchase their makeup. It’s not available in the pharmacies, and besides Monoprix, I didn’t see any other store carrying drugstore things. There’s obviously the Sephora stores dotted around the city – all of which are spectacular, but I was a little underwhelmed with the selection of products not available in the U.S. – but other than that, makeup was sparse.

Here are some photos from my trip:

The view from the top of the Eiffel Tower. Yes, I climbed the stairs. All 700 of them.

Sacre-Coeur, the church whose stone only gets whiter the more it rains.

Shakespeare and Company is a must-see if you are in Paris and love F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Les Deux Magots, one of Paris’ famous literary cafes. I unfortunately did not see Ernest Hemingway lurking anywhere.

The Luxembourg Gardens, shortly before my Topshop bag broke, and I had to carry my purchases in hand on the metro. #fail

The impressive Chateau de Chantilly. Look at that reflective moat!

I love the show Reign so I was freaking out a little bit to be standing at Louis Conde’s chateau.

Chantilly had the most impressive horse stables I’ve ever seen.

The expansive Louvre on a gorgeous, sunny day.

I didn’t know paintings could be this big.

Just one of the incredible ceilings at The Louvre. So much art is missed if you don’t look up!

Versailles! Ignore my windblown hair – it was a wind tunnel at that chateau.

The opulent Hall of Mirrors, with surprisingly few mirrors.

The most STUNNING stained glass in Sainte-Chapelle. Easily my favorite place in Paris.

Hopefully I will be able to start posting more frequently again! School is still very busy, but I have more time on weekends now to take photographs. Plus, it’s warm again! Spring has definitely sprung.

Thanks for reading everyone. I hope you’ve all been great!

xoxo Rebekah
