The leaves are changing, and I love it! One of my favorite quotes that I can’t help but think about how true it is when this time of year rolls around is by F. Scott Fitzgerald: “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” It’s been a little colder (and rainier) than I’d like, but the leaves can stay like that forever, and I’d be happy.
I picked up this skirt from LOFT a few weekends ago in store after ogling it online for a while. It’s such a gorgeous skirt for fall; I love floral prints, but they can sometimes be too bright and summer-y to pull off when the weather gets colder. But not this guy! This skirt has the best color palette for fall – tons of burgundies, dark greens, blues, and blacks. I think this would transition nicely for work, too, as well as casual because the pencil skirt shape is very professional, and I don’t think the length is too revealing.
Want to hear a funny story? This skirt is a size 4 petite, LOL. That’s all they had left in the store (it was on major clearance), but I decided to try it on anyways. For anyone who doesn’t know, I’m 5’9″ and typically not the standard definition of petite. But it worked! I was surprise how well it worked. It wasn’t anywhere as short as I thought it would be, and the skirt actually fit me at my waist. That’s something I have trouble with; skirts will fit me through the hips and then gap annoyingly at the waist.
I ended up wearing this amazing t-shirt to the mall when I bought the skirt, and I thought they paired together perfectly. If you’re looking for a basic t-shirt that won’t break the bank, get the one I have linked above. I have them in a million colors, and they’re honestly the best. They wash really well, too.
